Lesson of the Week: DREAM BIG

Since I was a little girl I've had two dreams:

1. New York City
2. A career in fashion business

It sounds like every other girls dream. Well, perhaps it actually is. But there's one important thing: I didn't stop dreaming. There's hardly anyone who know's me and hasn't heard me talk about at least one of both. There's been a lot of admiration for dreaming so huge but over the last few years I could feel more and more people deride me. I come from a city where one of the bestselling brands is Northface. Seriously?!

People are scared of dreaming big. It's the fear of being disappointed. The fear of the dream not coming true. If you don't shoot for the stars you'll never learn to fly. And perhaps for some people it's better to stand with both their feet on the ground walking straight forward. If it comes to me, I'm the one with the head in the clouds. If fallen on my nose quite much so, while aiming to fly. But I never stopped dreaming. Ever. And - believe it or not - seven month from now The Infamous Diaries are going to be updated live from the Big Apple! Right: my big - actually huge - dreams are about to come true. After hours of application writing and re-writing and translating my resumee and searching for adresses over and over again and writing tons of e-mails with the largest amount of concentration in fear of spelling mistakes... I had an interview for interning at a fashion company's PR department on tuesday - and got the job!!

So get excited for the most amazing posts AFTER graduation-exam-stress is actually over!

We love... Beginners

It's 2003. Oliver is 38, single. His dad recently died of cancer. When his Mom died 4 years ago his dad - Hal - announced, that he's gay. They've been married since 1955, that makes 44 years. 

Hal: I don't want to just be theoretically gay. I want to do something about it.

Is what he says. And he does! He joins all sort of gay-communities and even falls in love. This is something Oliver can't say of hisself so far. That changes in 2003, the moment he meets Anna.

Anna: You can ask me anything you want.
Oliver: Anything? What's there?
Anna: That's a tree. And Cars. Another building like this one. People in the building like us, half of them think it's never going to work out, the other half believe in magic. It's like a war between them.

Anna is from France. Anna's an actor. Anna's beautiful. Unusual. Inspirational. Lovable. Human. Their lovestory is no Hollywood-lovestory. It just walks through the movie. It's usual and easy - it feels real. You don't expect anything to happen or not to happen. You just let them live. Their story is told concurrently with Hal's last four years before he dies.
Also from time to time we learn more about Olivers mother. She seems weird. Embittered. Self-determined. Loving but cold. I like her. she's true to herself. She's sad. More - she's melancholic. But she's a good mother. She doesn't lock herself into her room to be sad. She carries her frustration outside, lives it. I like her.

          Oliver: Our good fortune allowed us to feel a sadness our parents never had time for. 

   The movie's great, because it feels so real. You crack up, listening to Oliver talking to his Jack Russel. Watching Hal being gay in all that he is. Being truly happy this late in life. And just when you crack up most - you want to cry. About Hal's death. The tragedy of the family. Life. Unlike to most of the movies these days you don't feel like you've read the script before. It's unexpected. Just like life's unexpected. And it hides a lot of wisdom. Little maxims hidden behind some corners. Generationconflicts not screaming for attention but nudging in you're head.

Crocodiles kill you, people make mistakes

A girl I suppose I used to be friends with recently posted a quote. It said

"Crocodiles are easy. They try to kill and eat you. People are harder. Sometimes they pretend to be your friend first."

Why is this important to me? Because I'm people. Even though I don't aim to kill anyone nor eat somebody. Duh! 

I'm people because I'm the bitch. I'm the girl YOLOing and realizing that people can't except if you're not perfect. I'm not talking perfect as in beautiful and skinny. We had the kinda stuff at least once too much. I'm talking perfect as in making the right decisions. As in being 18 years old and suddenly mature. I'm talking perfect as in choosing the right guys and making sure not to hurt anyone you know.  

So, sorry I'm not perfect!

But at least I realize that. And even try to apologize. In my way. But sometimes even your friends don't get it. And so they talk. Because they love to talk. And so they get hurt. That's how I became a killer. Also that's how I learned that your friends are those who aren't okay with your actions but still stick to you. Thank you, friends! 

In some peoples eyes I may be the killer. In others I'm only an imperfect young woman trying to find happiness...

Top 5 series returning this fall

I am a total junkie when it comes to series. Sadly (or good for my summer) most of my fave series take a break over summer... so here are my top 5 series returning this fall and when!

#1 and best: How I met your mother! 
 Season nine - the FINAL season - is coming up on 23rd of September. I hardly ever met anybody who doesn't like this series. If you wouldn't like HIMYM that would mean you don't love Barney's pick up lines, Lily and Marshall's hilariously adorable relationship, Ted's desperate believe in true love and Robins self-protection sarcasm...and that's only a glimpse of the awesomeness!

#2 New Girl 

 One girl, three guys, one apartment in Chicago. It's Zooey Deschanels charming nivity combined Schmidts narcissism, Winstons lostness and Nicks total being out of everything. On the 17th of September we'll learn the development of Jess & Nick's love-life and a lot more...

#3 Vampire Diaries
 Twilight almost achieved that vampires and werewolves were oh-so-middle-school-groupie-ish. Almost! The best and only savior of the coolness as well as the sexiness of vampires and werewolves are the stunning Salvatorebrothers. On the 3rd of October there'll be more Vampire-Hybrid-Werwolve-Sex, more love, blood and mystries...

#4 The Carrie Diaries
 I've already mentioned this lovely prequel to the beloved Sex And The City-Series earlier this year. On 25th of October it returns for season 3!

#5 Awkward. 
 A show I aswell told you about before. Jenna featuring Matty, Tamara, Jake, Ming & Co. make us crack up beginning 22nd of October this month. It's obvi going to be amazeballs! You're welcome.

How to...make the perfect refreshing drink

We are all craving for refreshments these days. Summer sun heats us all up and we hide in the shade or at the lake. Because we all probably shouldn't eat too much ice cream and water tastes boring gradually here's a "How To..." on the best refreshment this summer! All natural, all fresh and absolutely delicious!

 All you need is:

2 Limes

Fresh Mint

Ice Cubes

Bubbly Water

Cut the Limes and blend them together with the Mint. Add the ice cubes in the mixer and blend again. Pour into glasses and add as much water as you want. 
Sweeten it up with lemon juice or use prosecco if you want some alcohol.

The thing with examnesia

 I wish I could be 5 again. My biggest problems being the time I have to go to bed and how to count to 100. If I was 5 I would see the world as a playground. And I'd be shure that by the time I was seventeen I'd be all grown up and mature and cool and perfect. Also I'd be pretty, good at school and have a wonderful boyfriend (okay, that part's actually true).
 But I can't be my five-year-old self again. I'm seventeen. Maybe grown up, not mature and far from perfect. But I'm mostly happy. Until it comes to exams. I consider myself a great person. Really, I am quite confident and thankful for the great life I have. And I even consider myself quite intelligent. But then again, there are exams. My hands start to shake like crazy, my thoughts spin similar to a tornado and my legs feel like they're made of chewing gum. I feel like I can think of kinda anything I have ever learned. But nor of the answers for the questions the exam askes. I need to be put in a category, how good or bad a person I am seems to be equivalent to what grade I get. And I totally can't live with that! Why can't I just be seen as the person I am? Why can't my teachers take what I give them in class for the best they get? I even started doing homework in order to be better prepared. Didn't work. And why on earth can't it be enough for me to be a good driver in order to get my driver's license? I study hard, get all the answers right. Until I sit in the room with 15 others and fell like there's no air. So what is it? What is it that makes my brain blend every time I truly need it? I don't know. What I know is that when it comes to examnesia I'm probably the best example.

We Love... (500) Days of Summer

"This is a story of boy meets girl."

Kinda. Well isn't that more or less any random story? Boy meets girl and everything all over again So what's so special about this one? 

"The boy, Tom Hansen of Margate, New Jersey, grew up believing that he'd never truly be happy until the day he met the one. This belief stemmed from early exposure to sad British pop music and a total mis-reading of the movie 'The Graduate'. The girl, Summer Finn of Shinnecock, Michigan, did not share this belief. Since the disintegration of her parent's marriage she'd only love two things. The first was her long dark hair. The second was how easily she could cut it off and not feel a thing. Tom meets Summer on January 8th. He knows almost immediately she is who he has been searching for. This is a story of boy meets girl, but you should know upfront, this is not a love story"

First of all there's Zooey Deschanel. Second Joseph Gordon-Levitt. Enough for a good movie! Still, the way the story is told makes it extraordinary. It's twisted in a lot of ways, takes us on a journey that doesn't take us quite where we expect it to. Highs and lows, funny and sad. Tom (J. Gordon-Levitt) goes back to the beginning of his relationship after his girlfriend Summer (Z. Deschanel) dumps him. He tries to find where he went wrong within his 500 days of Summer. The movie makes you crack up and cry the next second.

Tom: What happens if you fall in love?
Summer: Well, you don't believe that, do you?
Tom: It's love. It's not Santa Claus.

I've seen this movie a few times now and I can tell there are a few more to come. Grab your best friend and some Ben & Jerrys and enjoy!

We Love... The Bookthief

 Finally I get to write something on my favourite books. My first all-time-favourite is The Bookthief by Markus Zusak. I must admit I read it in german but because it's originally an english book I assume the original version is even better.

 For all I know the book is not based on a true story but still inspired by true events: World War II. The story takes place in Munich, Germany. Young Liesel's brother dies on their way to Hans and Rosa Hubermann. She had to leave her mother behind because she was tracked by the Nazis. So Liesel starts a new life, alone with the not quite matching couple Hans and Rosa. She finds friends and lives a life as normal and exciting as it can be growing up during World War II. Liesel befriends Max, the Jew hidden in Hubermann's basement, survives bombardments and finds her way in the hearts of her new parents. What has the book's title to do with all this? Well, Liesel discoveres her love for books. The only problem: she can't read. So she trys to learn it. And as we all know learning how to read is a hard bit of work. And the books she reads are - who'd thought - stolen. Every book she posesses has it's very own and special story.

 You may think "WOW, another book about horrible WW II. Nothing I haven't heard or read before...". Sorry, you're wrong! The book is different than almost any book I ever read. Not only is Markus Zusak one of the most fantastic and gifted writers I know, also he gives the story a whole new twist by making someone very special the narrator: death himself. This may sound a little bit creepy perhaps but it's so beautiful to read. The whole idea to impersonate death and make him tell a story about a little girl living in a time where death is all arround is fascinating. The way the story is told is colorful, bright and comes to life the second you begin reading.



 The book is quite big which may seem quite overawing in the beginning but if you love storys that soak you in, storys that are told with words that draw wonderful pictures, than this book is a must-read for you!

 I live in an almost total girls-household so everything seems to belong to everybody. That caused that I regularly can't find life-saving stuff, such as my tweezers. "Are these mine?" "No mine!" "Bullcrap...their Mom's" - on a daily basis. To avoid this I decided to make my stuff unique for example by glittering them up.

We Love... AWKWARD.

Because it's so real! Awkward. is a MTV Show starring a High School teenager whose life is truely awkward.
 Jenna Hamilton used to be a quite normal teenager. Until she became "That Girl" that tried to kill herself. Accidentally. Adding up with the fact that she lost her viginity to the hottest guy in school and now having him as well as his best friend fighting for her make the whole situation arround the young blogger more awkward. What else is awkward? Let's see...

1. Her parents. They're kind of awesome. Far too young to be parents, what makes them kinda hilarious because they're a little swamped with all the responsibility and how to deal with the whole parenting thing.

2. Her BFFs. On the one hand we have Ming. A chinese girl who has trouble dealing with "The Mafia" because she's not a staight-A-student in contrast to all of the other chinese kids. On the other hand there is Tamara. All crazy, hyperactive and simply amazeballs! She has kinda her own language, parts of which you can check out on the pic.

3. The guidance counselor. She is...ineffable! Clogs and fannypack included. You have to see her!

4. Jenna's life. Of course!! All messed up with secrets, little white lies, gossip and random High School crap.


Summing up it could seem as if it's just another one of the random High School movies. IT IS NOT! It's down-to-earth and straight forward, hilarious and touching all at once. It's simply awkward.

How to survive a class Trip

Greece! 13 days, 12 students, 2 teachers.

You may have wondered why I haven't written in quite a long time. Now you know: I'm in Greece with my Greek-class. Yeah, right. I'm the freak who chose to take Ancient Greek instead of French. Don't ask me why! 

 The good part: the trip to Greece. Which I am on right now. It's an incredibly beautiful country, but as we all know class trips can get awfully exhausting. So here are my tips for surviving - no matter if you go to Rome, Greece, France or elsewhere!

          1. Don't you dare to forget to charge your iPod! You're probably going to spend a lot of time in the bus. And even if not: you won't sleep in a single room! So there are going to be talking, joking, annoying kids surrounding you close to 24/7. Also you need a soundtrack while admiring the beautiful scenery. 

           2. Feel free to make your free-time me-time! Of course you don't wanna miss anything. And yes - it's fun to explore new places with your friends. But you spend your whole day walking around cultural valuable places and have a lot to process. So nobody's going to blame you for taking some time of. You're going to be surprised how relaxed you will feel after taking an hour of alone-time!

           3. Take your most comfy shoes! Don't let your vanity win. Your feet will probably be white/ not as tanned as your legs BUT in a group of more than 10 people nobody cares about how bad your feet hurt. Plus tan lines make you look sportive ;)

           4. Let your evenings become unforgettable. Well yeah, you have a curfew. But still there is hardly any place on this earth that isn't amazingly beautiful by night. So - even if your tired - make the most of being where you are with whomever you're there. And even if you make use of tip #2 don't lock yourself up in your room. Go to the beach and count the stars!

          5. Take a sweater! When the sun goes down it can get real cold. Even when you had 36 degrees (Celsius) the whole day. Also the air conditioning in busses can make you catch a huge cold! 

          6. Try to be on good terms with your teachers. They will trust you. And if you wanna have fun even though you are on smallest space with the watchful eyes of your teachers better be nice. Or pretend to be. To be trustworthy is equal to possessing the key to freedom!

          7. Try 6. with your fellow students. It's not the same as in school where you have half of your day at home - you are trapped with these kids 24/7. Get to know them. Some of them are more interesting then they seem. If you have enemies now...check if your room's locked. Twice!

          8. Don't gossip! Or at least try to. Rumors spread way to fast when everyone's caved in together. And once again: beware of enemies...! 

          9. Choose your roomies wisely. No explanations needed, right? :)

We Love... The Art of Getting By

 This is what I love vacation for. You have time for things you truly want to do! For me it's for example watching movies that have been on my list for ever (I have lists for everything). My dad was nice enough to let me order some movies on amazon lately so I even got to watch them legally.
 Yesterday I watched The Art of Gettiny By, a wonderful coming of age movie starring Freddie Highmore and lovely Emma Roberts.


 Set in Manhattan the story focuses on George, a senior in High School who has trouble figuring out the sense of (his) life. We are all going to die anyways, so why bother with homework, graduation, college...? Problem here: his parents as well as his teachers don't exacly share his views. Instead of doing homework he doodles all of the time, everything and everywhere. His Books are full with monsters and a beautiful mess set free from his messed up mind. But one day he covers for a girl, somking on the schools roof. They get to meet and she seems to who understand or at least admire him for his view on life. Sally.

"

Sally: I have fears but I thought they were pretty run-of-the-mill: pain, death.

George: Not me. I fear life.

 Of course they become friends. She - beautiful, popular, openhearted - showes him - withdrawn, artistical, pensive - the "normal" teenage life and fun in life while he introduces him to his world of doodles and art and a lot of thoughts and worries. Naturally he falls in love with her.

"  

Sally: Are you okay?

George: I'm allergic to hormones.

Sally: What hormones?

George: My own.

 But he is shy and inexperient as he is he seems to screw it up. And she does too, kinda. Both overvelmed by their feelings drive through the rollercoaster of almost beeing grown-up. But only almost.

Sally: You know we're going to be together one day, we just have to sort through all of our messed up issues first, and you have a lot of girls to sleep with to get out of your system.

 For me, a coming-of-age-movie-lover, it's one of the stories that give you this warm fuzzy feeling. You will smile. And then you will smile even more - because you realize you are smiling.

Dating is dead?! Pros n Cons on that shit.

 When was your last date? And I don't mean your last random hookup, one night stand or DVD night with your girl-, boy- or best-friend. What I talk about is a date like the kinda date you know from the movies. So? Ever? Nah.
 I recently read an article in my favourite magazine (NEON, german one) about the end of dating. Seriously, when I think about it, my whole life I thought this whole dinner-date was an invention made in Hollywood. But it seems like there used to be something like the two-some date some time before I got old enough. Sucks. If you believe in what this nice lady who wrote the article says. And a lot of other people who claim thereselfs to be smart and write books n stuff. So what exactly do they say? If you look arround your folks who are somewhere arround 20-something you'd think they seem to be happy and have relationships and sex and everything awesome that seems to be a side-effect of dating. Right. But: how did they get there? Apperently "our generations'" dates are happening in our peers. When you're on a party it's the most uncomplicated thing to simply invite your crush to join you. And that's what we do. INSTEAD of dating.

CON on that:

           1. Suppose you get invited by your crush to hang out with his/her friends. Are you
               a) not worth the time to spend alone with?
               b) in the Buddy-Trap?
               c) a set up for somebody's friend?
               d) what you hope to be?


PROs'd be:

          1. Your person of interest isn't as great as you thought. Oh great! You don't have to think
              of anything to get rid of him/her asap - it's a party!

           2. Completely practically: you can tell if he/she is any boy-/girlfriend material, given the fact
               that your crush is surrounded by your friends and you can check out how good he/she fits in.
               This brings us to

           3. 'cause on the other side we have YOU, invited to some party or random hang by your crush.
               You can check out the people your going (not?) to be partner likes to hang. Nothing says as
               much about a person as the people he/she spends his time with.


 So up 'till now it seems like it's not too bad to say au revoir to outdated dating rituals. Isn't this....so sad?
 I believe our "free spirits" and crap we claim ourselves to be is leading us to something completely wrong. Or at least not-so-nice. Our easygoing mentality makes us have more than one crush's (there is no plural existent for this word - realize something?). We have far too many opportunities. We spend our time trying to decide. Not trying to work on what we have.

CON:

            2. Will we ever decide? Will monogamy be an archaic word? I think we will drive ourselfes
                crazy with all of our choices and opportunities. 

            3. Letting the hopeless romantic speak for me: Where is the LOVE? If we don't take our time
                to get to know somebody, to earn their trust and literally learn to love them...will we love? I
                got this feeling that a lot of the kids from my generation mistake sex and physical attraction
                for what we call love. Count: How many of your friends got together with their (-sorry-)
                fuck-buddies or what you want to call them?



So is dating dead? Are we caught in our own dissolute lifestyle? Gett up guys, we're all so vintage and retro and thirftshop-y...why do we hang on to fashion and art but not to lifestyle and culture?

How to...embellish your sneakers

To everyone who has or had Vans it's no secret, that they get the hyped "Used Look" way too fast. My Vans used to be more of a coral-colour. They got dirty real fast - the not-so-cool kind of dirty. So I decided to fancy them up a little. Actually I didn't really know, what I wanted them to look like in the end. So I just gathered all textile-colours I could find and got started.

! Take the shoelaces out before you begin.

First paint the whole shoe white-ish. Reduce the white paint with some water.

Then paint the front part and the little half-circle at the heel in one colour (I chose red) and the middle-part in another colour (blue in my case).

Continuing paint the seams with in a slightly darker colour (red) in order to clean the edges up a little.

When the colour has dried, cut a small circle out of paper. Then use it as a template for the thin white circles.  
! Use a pin to fixate it in order to make the circles more accurate.

Top 5 beautiful female voices

Summernights.
Sitting in the wet grass, counting stars, smoking last cigarettes, having a slightly fuzzy head from the one beer too much.
This is what I love most about these days. Having my friends around me, no one's talking. The voices fill our body's with happy but deep thoughts. It are the voices of the women who sing the songs of which we have the lyrics on our bedroom walls and in our diaries.






1. Julia Stone. After a career with her brother Angus Stone both of them try to make their own music by now.

2. Lana Del Rey. Her voice as well floats through you and leave a feeling of something unfulfilled, desirable and great.

3. Florence Welch. Leadsinger of the fantastic Florence + The Machine seems to fly away any moment. Her songs strike with power and still hit you right in the heart.

4. Emelie Sandae. Admittedly, her voice may not be as remarkable as the others the others but still it is a-mazingly beautiful.

5. Daughter. Her song "Youth" is one of my all-time-favorites. One of the voices that give you shivers.

Hope I could perhaps inspire your playlists a little.

We Love... The Great Gatsby

 I am stunned! After reading "The Great Gatsby" by F. Scott Fitzgerald (even the english edition!) I had to see the movie yesterday. I was stunned! Carey Mulligan's dresses, Leonardo DiCaprio's charmingness, the awesome partys, the language...everything was absolutely perfect. I would even dare to claim the movie's better than the book. Maybe better's the wrong word. It just...brings everything to life so perfectly. Greater as you would dare to imagine it. 

 A friend of mine probably got it right by saying "It's more of a fairytale than a story!". Perhaps that's why I enjoyed it so much: I adore fairytales! Especially when they come to life in such adorable pictures with the great dresses,jewellery and...everything!

 Another great thing was the music. Throughout the whole movie there was no song I didn't enjoy. Every song goes right through me. My faves are Lana Del Rey's "Young and Beautiful", "Love Is Blindness" by Jack Black and "A Little Party Never Killed Nobody" by Fergie, Q-Tip and GoonRock. The dancing was excessive and fantastic, for me especially 'cause I used to dance LindyHop and Boogy Woogie, which are styles from the 20s.  

I don't fancy Leonardo as a person - but I love him as an actor. And in this sweater.

Top 5 places to be and see, when in ROME

FINALLY I have time again. Well, at least a little. I spent the last weekend (wednesday to saturday, we had a few days free) in beautiful Rome. It was my second visit, only my dad and me. This city is incredible! The italian lifestyle is admirable, don't let me even get started on the food! Also the whole culture - from the ancient romans to Michelangelo  - is amazingly interesting.
So anyhow I thought it would be nice to share my favourite 5 things to see or do wehn in Rome. Hope you agree ;)

1. Let's combine culture with breakfast: the best cappucchino I ever had was at the "Tazza D'Oro Coffe Shop". I had breakfast there every morning. The culture part here: It's right at the Patheon. Even if you're not into churches it's worth a short visit.
Fun fact: if someone tells you it doesn't rain into the huge hole in the celing, it's only partly true. It used to not rain in there befor the houses arround where builg, if the doors were opend. Today it doesn't rain that badly when they're opend but it does get wet in there :)

2.  Go into the Colloseum. But buy the tickets elsewhere befor you go. The lines are close to dadly. Still you have to have seen it from the inside. It's so different from what I imagined it to be like. Especially after six years of Latin in school I was stunned to see the enormous stadium from the inside.
And if you walk around Rome: don't be surprised, the Colloseum stands in what seems to be the middle of the city randomly. It's just...there suddenly.

3. Time for lunch. Grazia & Graziella is an awesome place in Trastevere, a borough across the river Tiber. Oficially there are no cars allowed there, so it's more of the scenic Italy as you imagine it. If you visit after being at the Colloseum you could probably rent bikes there at bike there.
Grazia & Graziella is a cozy restaurant with a pretty nice interiour, very heartly furnished. The food is simple but perfect, italian at it's best!

4. If you are up for a little shopping, you should check out the area you go through when you've crossed Tiber on your way back to the middle of the city. I will update what the area is called ASAP. There are lots of cute boutiques, vintage shops and little cafes.

5. For dinner try to find a rooftop restaurant. Most likely it's to find in a hotel. It may be a little more expensive but it's worth it! The roofs of thisinfinite city are amazing. In the light of the sunset, after a day of a lot of walking and talking an seeing there is nothing more beautiful than overlooking a city with more of 2500 years of hisory!

Top 5 songs to lay back and relax.

Finally it's sunday! Or was, given the fact that it's 7 pm at my place already. But still: Sunday are for relaxing, doing nothing and avoiding everything stressful. Well, at least that's what it should be. So no matter if you had a perfect chill-out day or brought some power into this nothing-day it's the perfect time to listen to some relaxing music. Here are my Top 5 songs to lay back and relax:

1. Youth - Daughter.That's my let-me-cry-and-pick-me-up-again-song. Because we are the reckless, we are the wild youth.

2. All We Are - One Republic. Their songs are beautiful. I like this one in particular. I suppose it's the lyrics. Or th voice. Or the chords. Or everything together.

3. A Lack of Color - Death Cab For Cutie. Because of the first few lines: "And when I see you, I really see you upside down. But my head knows better, it picks you up and turns you arround." Awesome!? :)

4. I'm Not Yours - Angus and Julia Stone. Julia's Voice is a-mazing!

5. Ho Hey - Tyler Ward & Alex G. (originally by The Lumineers). Tylers covers are great! I love his voice and the people he works with are just as gifted. Every song is packed with passion and love for the music he makes.

Top 5 reasons why I'm definetly NOT going to watch soccer tonight!

So in Germany soccer is like THE thing. Tonight is a championsleague game so it's almost obligatory for everyone to watch. The last few games a good friend of mine always told me I was supposed to watch the game and gave me an exquisit report on everything oh-so-gorgeous about the previous or running game. What's the catch? It's 22 guys running after a ball for 90 minutes, each 11 of them looking same. So here are my very own and probably not so much understood reasons why I refuse to waste these 90 minutes of my precious evening:

1. If I wanna see "Hot Guys" I'll watch, like, basically ANY movie. Best: chicflick! Or Spiderman, James Bond or something where they at least focus on the abs when they take of their shirts.

2. Imagine following scene: Me, sitting on the couch, staring at the mainly green screen and wincing everytime my parents clap or scream far too loud. Which is every time the ball is within 15 meters of the goal. Wow. A ball.

3. There is so much more I could do within these 90 minutes. Like homework. Or watch any series. Or read a book. Or even write this post. Duh.

4. Watching this game would be sooo mainstream. And I'm so anti-mainstream, like, Hipster or something. Anything. Not.

5. I would probably fall asleep quite soon (leave away the part with my parents) and that would stop me from doing my nightly activities. Which is literally everything due within the next 24 hours because I'm queen of kinda ignoring my duties by daylight. Maybe I'm cursed?

Not that bad...but rare!

Well, summing up you could say soccer bores me to hell. Any soulmates here? Or am I going to be stoned to death by tomorrow evening? Shoot me your thoughts on "The Nations Favourite Sport"!

How to...make Ombré Nails

So here's a step-by-step explanation to my fave nail style this spring: Ombré Nails!

You need:
* 3 different shades of nailpolish (most likely similar colours)
* A small sponge
* clean nails

 Step 1

Paint all of your nails in the lightest shade you choose. One coat should be enough, otherwise it's too many shades in the end and also you won't notice any gaps afterwards anyhow.

Step 2

Dapple a smidge of the second lightest colour onto a plastic sheet.

Step 3

Dip a corner of the sponge into the colour.

Step 4

Dab the colour on 3/4 of every nail.

Step 5

Repeat Step 2, 3 and 4 with the darkest shade. This time only dab the colour on the tips of the nails.
Afterwards clean your figers carefully with nailpolish-remover (I forgot that on the picture). Then seal look with a clear topcoat.

Thadaa! Your Ombré Nails are done. You can try out a lot of different looks, including glitter, different colours and more. I hope you liked it :)

How to... bake the best oatmeal raisin cookies in this world!

I love cookies! Who doesn't? When our favorite cookies - which my mom brought from NY - where all eaten we decided to bake them. German cookies just aren't the same ;) so after searching the Internet I found this delicious recipe. I changed few things and by now they're my favorite thing to bake.
This recipe is only for my German-speaking readers, because I write my recipes in German. Hope you'll love them as much as I do!

We Love...the first days of summer

Or spring. I don't know what it looks like in the rest of the world. Okay, northern hemisphere. Not California etc. I mean the normal world with average winters. Only this winter wasn't what I want to call average. It lasted until Saturday. Saturday was to days ago. What the ...??? But now - finally - I'm sitting in the sun, birds tweeting around me, grass tickling the bare parts of my skin. Is there anything more beautiful than the days after a long, cold winter? No! The first days are the best, you worship them much more and it feels like they'll last forever! Enjoy the sun as long as you can...

Pro's &Con's on getting your wisdom teeth out

So I got my third molars out on thursday. It sucks. BUT - because I'm optimistic and shit - I tried to find some pros. And I'm totes in the need of moping!!

Pro: you're aloud to eat as much ice cream and pudding as you want.

Con: you suddenly realize how much you dig bread, noodles or basically anything you got to bite on in order to eat it.

Pro: it's okay if you're crying 'round contantly

Con: you're crying because it frickin hurts as hell!!

Pro: with hamster-cheeks you look absolutely adorable

Con: who wants to look adorable with hamster-cheeks???

Pro: you're aloud to take pain killers

Con: never ever combine pain killers with alkohol!

Pro: everyone's pitting you and is super nice.

Con: who wants to be pitied because of looking not-so-nice? Not it!


So that's enough of positive things I gotta get back to my medicine ;)

Top 5 reasons why I adore Emma Stone

Emma Stone. I even love her name. It's so simple, memorable. If I think of someone named Emma she fits perfectly. My top 5 for her? Here they come...

1. No matter if "Superbad" and "Easy A", "The Help" or "Gangster Squad" and "Spiderman"... she fits every role perfectly, no matter how different they are. There is nothing worse than actors always playing what seems to be themselves.

2. Her boyfriend is Spiderman! Nothing more to say to that. I mean...look at him! ;)

3. She looks fab with no matter what haircolour.

4. She's got rarely any bad press up until now...has she?

5. The awesome idea of the handmade charity signs.

How to.. Make your day brighter

Everbody knows following situation:
You're home, it's rainy outside and no one has time to hang out. So you're just hanging around with nothing to do, you're bored as heck  and you're in a bad mood.
Here's a list of things you can do to have a good day:

1. Smile , because your brain doesn't know if it's a real or a fake smile. So either way it's gonna   make yor brain feel like you're happy and you're gonna get happy.
2. Listen to your favorite songs and dance
3. Drink a cup of hot chocolate
4. Go for a walk and listen to the sound of nature. Sounds cheesy but always helps me to forget everything around me.
5. Take a long, hot bath
6. Write a letter either to a person you haven't herad of in ages or to a random adress and see if they reply.
7. Watch your favorite movie or TV show
8. Read
9. Put on comfy clothes

We Love... The Carrie Diaries

TCD is a prequel to the beloved series Sex and the City, both based on the books by Candace Bushnell. We both read TCD Books and totally fell in love. But we have to admit: the series are even better!! Starring the power-loaded Anna Sophia Robb as 17-year-old Carrie Bradshaw, trying to rule her chaotic teenage-love-life in the sub-urbs while living her exciting Manhattan-intern-at lawfirm- / Interview Magazine, totally rocks The CW's serie.

The thing I probably love most about this more or less chickflick is the 80s setting. Not only Carries gorgeous wardrobe filled with glitter, tulle and pastel-colours but also the stunning partys and the people not constantly fixated on their mobiles.

Another great thing about TCD is Sebastian Kydd - Carries on and off BF - aka Austin Butler. With his blond hair (okay, usually I'm totally NOT into blondies), his cheeky smile and his simple and cool appearence...he is just a-mazing!
